Our interfacility teams provide the highest-quality care for patients requiring medical transportation between hospitals and other health care facilities.

ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT

Our Advanced Life Support (ALS) teams provide services designed to meet the needs of patients whose medical conditions require advanced levels of care, monitoring and interventions during transport. In addition to all BLS skills, our ALS clinicians are trained to monitor and administer intravenous fluids, administer medications, monitor cardiac activity, and monitor surgical airways, among other interventions. Our highly trained crews are dedicated to ensuring patient care and safety is our highest priority.

Basic Life Support

We work closely with hospital and health care facility partners to ensure patients receive the appropriate level of care. Our Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances are staffed by two certified EMTs who are trained to provide expert out-of-hospital medical care and transportation. BLS services include monitoring the patient’s airway, circulation and breathing during transport. In an emergency, EMTs are trained to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and other noninvasive life-saving skills.

Basic Life Support

SPECIALTY CARE

Specialty care transport (SCT) services are designed to provide the highest level of medical care for critically ill or injured patients. This category of services may also be referred to as Critical Care Transport (CCT) services in some of our markets. Our specialty care teams include registered nurses and paramedics with advanced certifications not only to provide ALS interventions during transport, but also to manage ventilators, surgical airways and administer IV medications. Specialty care transport patients are most often being transported from one hospital facility or trauma center to another.

Behavioral Health

Central EMS is the leading EMS expert in behavioral health transportation in Georgia. We have served one of the largest behavioral health systems in the state for decades.
Employees receive special training on the medical skills and the sensitivity to safely and respectfully treat and transport behavioral health patients, including verbal deescalation training.
Adjustments to our vehicles and equipment for safety include: Buckle Guard technology on stretchers ensures only the EMT or paramedic with the key can unlock the strap buckles; converted handles on the back doors to latches at the top to reduce the risk of a patient opening doors without permission; and real-time closed loop video monitoring so driver can view the patient and partner en route.

event standby services

The event standby team provides rapid emergency medical care during events in which the traffic, crowd congestion or obscure locations can make normal modes of emergency care difficult. Our capabilities include small-scale community to larger public events. Our goal is to protect the safety and health of our guests with advanced planning and logistics, professional staffing and specialized event response equipment. Events we cover include marathons, runs, walks, construction sites, motor sports, sporting events, media and movie production sets.

Pediatric Services

Central EMS’s pediatric transport program is specially equipped and designed to meet the unique needs of younger patients. We work with physicians at the Spence and Becky Wilson Baptist Children’s Hospital to provide ambulance transport services to its patients. Our EMTs, paramedics and nurses have extensive pediatric experience and certifications and work closely with physicians to ensure the highest levels of clinical care.
